The Tooling Applications Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating the testing of consumable products to enhance the Makino Applications and the Consumable Sales Team’s knowledge of various cutting tools and other consumable products.
This role is responsible for:

• Evaluating cutting tools to determine optimum performing products that can be introduced into the Makino application and associated consumable teams.
• Analyzing customer requirements to determine the best possible solutions that we can provide to the customer.
• Writing and editing tool paths for tool testing and demo cuts.
• Preparing and conducting cutting demonstrations (both custom & general) which show the benefit of both the Makino machine and available consumable product, and document results for use in future sales.
• Providing on-going tooling applications assistance for the Makino Applications Team as well as the affiliated Consumable Sales Team.
• Supporting regional and national machine tool shows with cutting demonstrations and technical discussions with customers.
• Applying state-of-the-art machining technology (including peripheral equipment and supplies) to develop the optimal tooling solution for demos, test cuts, and customer assistance.
• Utilizing tool testing data to help our suppliers improve and develop their product to meet our expectations.
• Making customer visits with both the Makino Application Team and the Consumable Sales Team.
• Creating Webinars designed to enhance both Makino machines and the associated consumable products.

Qualified Candidates should be a team player and a self-starter, and have:

• Associate’s degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering and 5 years or more machine tool experience
• Practical CNC machine tooling experience required
• CAD/CAM software experience, a plus
• Industrial mold experience or experience in a production machine environment
• Ability to work independently or in a team
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills
• Strong documentation and written communication skills
• Technical knowledge and creative problem solving
• Project management skills
• Willingness to travel 25%
