Position Title: Court Clerk II Position No.: 8170 Department: Criminal Records - Cost Accounting/Post Judgments - Independence Work Location: 308 West Kansas - Independence MO Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday Salary: State Paid Position - Non-exempt Grade S 12 - $991.50 Semi-monthly Applications must be received by Human Resources no later than 05:00 PM on 08/06/2010 GENERAL DUTIES AND EXAMPLES OF WORK: This is advanced clerical work in a court within the Missouri State Court System. Work involves responsibility for a specific area of court case processing of for performing a variety of technical clerical functions which requires the application of independent judgment and the interpretation of statues, policies, and regulations. Employees of this class are full functioning court clerks and most work will be performed with a minimum of checking or other supervision. Positions in this class are distinguished from Court Clerk I by the degree of independence and responsibility expected and degree of complexity of procedures performed. Work is reviewed by a supervisor through observation of operations and advice and assistance are available when unusual or difficult matters arise. Specific duties: Performs technical court clerical work in the filing, process, and disposition of criminal and traffic cases. Reviews legal documents for completeness, adequacy and accuracy; determines processing required and takes necessary action in accordance with court rules or refers difficult matters to supervisors. Determines proper routing of complaints, petitions, application for letters and other filings; notifies parties. Assures completeness and accuracy of records leaving the court's jurisdiction pursuant to change of venue, outgoing reciprocals, appear or certification. Answers inquiries and furnishes information by reviewing court records. Performs related work as required. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Typing of 35 wpm. Graduation from high school and two years general clerical experience. (Education above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required general experience above minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education). Knowledge of court procedures and policies, legal documents, laws and legal factors pertaining to the court. Knowledge of organization operations, functions and scope of authority of the court or activity to which assigned. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to make work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and departmental policies and procedures. Ability to maintain a variety of complex records and prepare reports for such records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
