Job description:The brand has its main EMEA (Europe, Middle-East and Africa) technical support organisation based in Amsterdam. From here, all of EMEA is being serviced on the support of the Rational software development products. In this international environment, we are regularly looking for newly skilled support engineers. Currently, we have vacancies for different products within the Rational software range.It is the task of the support engineer to troubleshoot and help customers find workarounds for problems or issues they encounter with our tools. The engineer also escalates to development where necessary or to duplicate customer issues for filing defects. Documentation of customer issues and the writing of technical notes on resolutions or workarounds is an essential aspect of the job.Skills:As the company products are officially supported in English, German and French, being fluent in either German or French is one of the criteria for selection. Excellent German speakers definitely have an advantage.Technical: Our ideal candidate has a great love for software technology. He/she will have acquired skills as a software developer, designer, or software professional or alternatively will have the basic skills in order to be able to grow into one of these areas.We expect that a candidate will need the following technical skills in order to be successful:Educated to degree level;> 2 years experience in Information Technology with a specialization in software programming; Rational software Clearcase/clearquest knowlegde (must)Unix or Linux administration knowledgeDatabase administration knowledge (DB2 and/or Oracle); Support: This should be firmly embedded in your character.
