The Authors Guild has successfully completed a preview of a
combined e-commerce and event platform site, and is preparing for a full, aggressive
launch in the first quarter of 2012. We are looking to hire a freelance Ruby on
Rails Software Engineer. 
The site includes e-commerce and event sign-up components,
referral/affiliate tracking, and a robust set of back-end administrative tools.
Notable technical features include three integrations (payment gateway, tax
computation, CDN) and extensive decisioning logic in the public site. The site
is built in Ruby on Rails (Ruby 3.0.5/Rails 1.8.7) with Nginx configuration on
a Platform-as-a-Service cloud hosting environment.  The part-time Ruby Software Engineer (up to 25 hours a week), who
will work with another full time Software Engineer and Project Manager, will
help implement new features to the site.  We use an agile process with Stories and Defects managed in the
Rally collaborative development tool.
